Settlement Support New Zealand consists of 19 local Settlement Support initiatives around New Zealand, to help newcomers get in touch with the local information and services they need to support their settlement.   What happens locally?

Settlement Network

The local Settlement Network (Hamilton New Settlers Group) Government agencies and community groups jointly focus on planning for local settlement needs. There are a number of groups and networks working collaboratively in the sector to identify and respond to settlement.

Local Co-ordination

A settlement Support co-ordinator is located at the Waikato Migrant Resource centre to ensure newcomers can locate information in a variety of ways.

The local settlement support initiative:

- Identifies local settlement support needs and the services that can meet them

- Connects individuals through the Waikato Migrant Resource Centre to Information and services that support settlement

- Supports mainstream services in meeting the needs of newcomers
