Migrants and refugees come to the Waikato for many different reasons: some people want to join their loved ones, some people seek improved career prospects, and some people are escaping trauma and war. Most people simply want a better life for themselves and their families. Coming to live in New Zealand can be exciting and interesting but life in a new country also presents many challenges. Simple things can become time-consuming and frustrating, particularly for people who come from a non-English speaking background. We want to support you in the process of finding your feet.

The Waikato Migrant Resource Centre provides a range of specialist services to support people who have moved to the region from other countries. However, as a Community Centre, it also provides a place for people from all cultures and backgrounds and both newcomers and locals can come and interact.
